Field Video: Magic on a Hired Gun (Waitress)

by brad jackson

Hi I'm Brad Jackson. The full blog you're reading is below, but I created PUMA Skills to teach guys how to use pick up artist magic tricks to break the ice with girls.

To discover more about PUMA Skills, Magic and how to end world hunger (well, maybe the first two only)...

Many people wonder exactly how Pick Up Magic should be performed in the field.  When some guys think about using magic to attract they think of a cheesy guy saying, “hey, wanna see a magic trick” and tyring REALLY Hard to impress and then looking like a goofball.  Others have told me that they have no idea how to “open” with magic.

Well first of all, I go over all the various openers with magic and how to introduce it into a set in the PUMA Skills Advanced Techniques Guide available in the Mastery Course.

Here is a video of a perfect example on how to effectively use magic in a set to Demonstrate Value.  After the video I’ll deconstruct the whole scene and show you how easy it is.  The PUA is named “Bravo,” a trainer at Neil Strauss’s Stylelife Academy

(I can’t embed it on this page, so here’s the link, but make sure to come back here to read the Deconstruction “after” you watch it.)

NOW…for the Deconstruction:

1. Notice the body language of BravoGypsy (BG) as he sits back, relaxed and not overly eager.

2. She asks what he does, he uses a fake “80′s Rock Band” gambit which teases her playfully.

3. @ 1:25 he says “we do magic….” and makes it sound like its no big deal.  But since he already gave the bogus line about the rock band she doesn’t know what to believe.  He’s disarmed her.  Much better than coming out and saying we do magic first.  She’s off guard now.

4. @ 1:45 he busts on her telling her “you didn’t even get me a shot glass when I asked” plus notice he’s still leaning back, disengaged.  He’s not in a hurry to try his magic.  She mus earn it!

5. At 2:05 he makes her say “please” then he gives her a high 5 which makes brings her back in and engages her.

6. Now THIS is where he pulls out a deck of cards which, if you follow my advice, you wouldn’t necessarily  be doing because of the high risk of looking like you came out to do magic tricks.  However, in this case he pulls it off because it’s a laid back bar, he’s at a table, talking to the waitress and calmly says we do magic.  He makes it congruent with who he says he is.  Plus, He could say we’re heading to a poker game after this or whatever.
**I do this trick very often, except that I use what I call an “invisible deck” of cards and I’ll either make the predicted card something I write down on paper OR more effectively I’ll carry that one card in my wallet at all times.  I will produce it by either having her reach into my wallet and look for a card, in which it’s the only one she finds…or the big one is when I have that card out and I somehow manage to slip it into her purse or somewhere that looks impossible for me to have planted.  But I digress…

7. Now normally I do not like to reveal the secrets of a magic trick for free.  I say this because according to “magician’s code,” giving it away spoils the trick for lurkers who will never invest their time and money to learn tricks of their own.  It can ruin magic for the rest of us.  However, if you’re reading this on my blog, there’s a pretty good chance you’re already interested in magic and plan on pursuing it more.  So, I’ll give you the basic secret and you can either do a ton of research on exactly how to do this trick and have it work everytime or you can join PUMA Skills here and I will give you step-by-step details of this trick and many more just like it.

THE SECRET METHOD is called an “equivoque” or “magican’s choice”  It’s extremely effective and can be used in many many ways…not just with a deck of cards but with anything, physical or simply verbal.

8. @ 4:37 he finishes the trick, says “I had you figured out the moment I saw ya” and he sits back exactly where he was before…not physically looking for approval or reaction.  However, he says at 5 minutes that we’re not going to use this clip because it’s a bad reaction. He’s making her qualify her reaction to him.

9. @5:11 She says “I LIKE TRICKS” he followed it up with a beautiful line of “Whoa, I don’t do tricks. Dogs and whores do tricks, I do real magic.”  Said in a playful way of course.

10:  @5:30 His wingman says “A lot of people pay us a hug, so you owe him a hug.”  This was the only mistake of the night.  She wasn’t totally into it and it broke rapport.  BE QUIET WINGMAN!

Summary:  He did great.  Who knows how the night ended up but that video was 6 minutes long.  That’s an awful long time for a waitress to be hanging around one table.  She was interested and invested in the interaction.  The trick didn’t need to serve any other purpose except demonstrate that he is a fun, interesting guy who knows how to entertain and attract.

Bravo!
