Hi I'm Brad Jackson. The full blog you're reading is below, but I created PUMA Skills to teach guys how to use pick up artist magic tricks to break the ice with girls. To discover more about PUMA Skills, Magic and how to end world hunger (well, maybe the first two only)...
What is a Renaissance Man?
“Renaissance Man — He’s self-assured, focused, disciplined, and responsible, yet knows how to let loose and have fun. His intellectual and career interests are balanced with cultural and physical activities. Comfortable in jeans or a tux, this action man throws himself into his pursuits and is willing to fail. In touch with and expressive of his emotions, he exudes compassion and warmth as he crosses social and ethnic boundaries. Gathering eclectic and diverse admirers, the Renaissance Man knows what qualities he’s looking for in a woman and is unlikely to be swayed.” by Jennifer Bawden
Great quote huh? Sounds kind of idyllic, but a good idea to aspire to…
What sets you apart from every other chump in the world. What are you good at? Screw that. What are you EXCELLENT at? This clip from “The Tao of Steve” is classic. Watch this then read on…
What really defines a Renaissance Man is someone with a diverse set of skills, interests, and knowledge that most men don’t possess.
Ideally, a Renaissance Man is very good at all of these skills, but in reality, simply having a diverse range of interests and abilities is enough in modern times to be considered a wildly interesting individual.
Have you seen the Dos Equis commercials about “The Most Interesting Man In The World?” It’s a comic parody about a guy who has a lot of interests and can do anything. As funny as it is…his life looks pretty good doesn’t it?
What about James Bond? He’s exciting because he can get into and out of all sorts of situations and be suave and debonair one moment while being violent the next.
Leonardo DaVinci is the person that a Renaissance Man referrs to. Leo had crazy skills in everything from sculpture, painting, engineering, inventing, warfare, poetry and science.
He’s heralded as one of the most genius, if not THE most genius man who ever lived. Aspiring to be exactly like him is a little crazy…but it’s the concept that a versatile and competent man is memorable and commands respect.
But I think it was probably our good ol friend Napoleon Dynamite said it best when he said that “girls only want guys who have skills.”
The sad fact of the matter is that most men (people in general) are just L-A-Z-Y. They go to school, get a job, drink through their twenties, try to score a few girls, settle down, raise kids, retire and die.
If they do have diverse interests it ends up being one or two hobbies and fantasy football league. If this seems boring to you, think about how it seems to women!
Can I give you a piece of advice. Don’t be like that guy…
Don’t be the LEAST interesting man in the world.
Personally I’ve prided myself on always being a “Jack of All Trades.” It stems from my Curiosity about life. If you’ve read any of my prior materials you know that I believe it’s “curiosity” that is one of the chief causes of attraction with women.
Anything you can do to cause a woman to be curious about who you are, what you can do, how you would be…as a date, as a boyfriend, husband, a father or a lover…is what causes a woman to take the next step with you.
It’s very true that many women like mysterious guys, the quiet guy often gets the girl because a girl wants to know more about him and takes on the adventure of figuring it out. But it’s not shy-quiet that gets the girl, it’s confident and quiet. Of course as I tell you this, I’m one of the LEAST QUIET guys you’ll ever meet. I love to talk and hear myself talk. I have to consciously tone it down so I don’t talk girls ears off sometimes.
I probably owe my curiosity and proficiency at multiple skills to my mother who always had me in lessons of some sort as a kid. It made me a collector of knowledge and skills and even though I complained sometimes when going to practice, it’s paid off in unbelievable ways.

Some of the skills I’ve PERSONALLY collected and you might consider:
Playing Guitar:
Started taking lessons when I was in 3rd grade. You’d think I’d be like Eddie Van Halen by now but I hated practicing. I got good enough to play the songs I wanted and entertain a date when I brought her back to my place. It’s a very rare thing for me to have brought a girl home, played guitar and have her clothes stay “on” all night. Very rare indeed.
Where do you start? Buy a cheap acoustic guitar while you’re learning. Go to a pawn shop or even Walmart and buy something to start with. If you like it and want to continue, buy a better one. With the internet there is not need to take lessons. Here’s a great way to learn to play right away. Learn Acoustic Guitar
Sports:
I’m a terrible athlete, but I enjoy sports. I don’t think I’m competitive enough in sports to drive me to succeed the way some guys are. I played sports for the fun of it and when it wasn’t fun, I moved on to something else that peaked my curiosity.
I’ve played or enjoyed: Soccer, Tennis, Baseball, Volleyball, Running (didn’t really “enjoy” that one, basketball, waterskiiing, snowboarding and skiing. I can’t say that any of them helped me get the girl, but they did help me learn a lot about being a guy, building friendships andcomraderie. There’s nothing better for learning social skills than being on a team.
Dancing:
Swing Dancing: During college, my parents saw me on a wedding video dancing with a girl, twirling her all around the dance floor and calling it “dancing.” They told me I didn’t know shit and in my living room, they taught me and my girlfriend at the time the basic timing and steps for east-coast swing. I still sucked but I caught the basics.
A couple years later, swing dancing became a major fad (mid 90′s) and I had a headstart on everybody else. When swing dancing nights at local clubs started popping up I’d go there and instantly have my choice of any girl on the dance floor who wasn’t with a boyfriend. Who am I kidding? I stole many girls from their boyfriends with my dance abilities. I even met one of my closest friends in the world at a swing dance club and we became wingmen for years.
I even took 5 or 6 lessons from the swing dancing MC at the clubs and learned how to get really good. Now, when a rockin beat comes on, I can grab any girl…anywhere and lead her to a cool swinging dance. Remember what I said about playing the guitar and how girls couldn’t resist it. If I was interested in a girl and I had a chance to dance with her. The odds were 100% that her clothes were coming off at the first opportunity. You’ve never seen anything quite like it.
Let’s take dancing ever further. After dating a smoking hot Puero Rican girl named Sharon who taught me the basics of salsa dancing, I had a sexier new dance to add to my repetoire. I’m definitely not a great salsa dancer. But I’m better than 90% of white guys out there.
And when a latin song comes on, I can grab any girl, take her in my arms, groove my hips to the latino beat and make her wonder where they hell I’ve been all her life. (This mainly happens with white girls who never see white guys who can latin dance. I’m currently dating a beautiful Brazilian who make guys leave their wives when they see her shakira-shakes…so she’s not impressed with the dancing, but she IS impressed that I know how).
Swing and salsa boys. If you know them…you’re good to go. Forget about learning solo dances. Screw hip hop. That’s a hobby. To learn how to impress a woman and be a Renaissance Man, you have to learn the couples dances.
If you hear nothing else that I say, understand this. Guitar, music, magic tricks, nothing…has more power to get a woman’s clothes off and bragging to her friends about you than a guy who is confident on the dance floor and can show her off. Nothing equates. Go take lessons now.
Go take local dance lessons somewhere…don’t be embarrassed, it’s an easy way to meet girls. Then if you want to learn how to pick up women on the dance floor, <–Click there.
Magic
I can’t forget Magic Tricks can I? Those of you who know me understand that I took what started out as a small fascination with bar tricks and grew into a magnificent obsession with magic to create an entire system for using magic tricks, naturally in your game and fused it with the principles of seduction to create the Pick Up Magic Artist. Thus the P.U.M.A. in PUMA Skills.
Reading
Mark Twain said “The man who doesn’t read has no advantage over the man who cannot read.”
I’m also a prolific reader, I read everything I can get my hands on…mainly non-fiction topics or thought provoking, philosophical and spiritual books that open your mind to many different ideas and perceptions that you never knew existed. Curiosity drives this. The problem is reading speed. The curiosity was only stopped by the ability to take in information. At this moment I’m currently studying speed reading and it’s working fabulously. Here is a link to the course I’m currently studying: MR READER
Travel
Take every chance you get to travel the world and experience other cultures. Even if you have to go into debt. Screw the flat screen TV. You don’t need it. If you’re going to spend your money do it on acquiring skills and experiences…period. It will make you a much more interesting person.
Also, travel with an open mind. Don’t be a tourist. What’s the difference? A “tourist” travels to a foreign country and complains that nothing is the same as it is back home. A “traveler” goes to the same foreign country and complains that EVERYTHING is the same. See the difference?
Cooking
I’m not saying you have to be Emeril Lagasse here, but learn how to cook something impressive…beyond grilling steaks. Take a cooking class. It’s an awesome way to meet women by the way. And when you bring a girl you’re interested in back home on the 3rd date and cook for her instead of buying her dinner…game over. You win.
Do you want a short cut. Check THIS out….click below
Martial Arts/Fighting Arts
Here’s another thing I started off early with. Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu and Tai Chi. Most of my life I’ve studied martial arts for the exercise, confidence and skills it gives me. Did I meet any girls because of it? No. But I have had to use it to defend myself when a few guys have gotten out of line with the girl I’m with before. The confidence alone that martial arts gives you is worth it. Sign up for a class.
Self Improvement
Aristotle said the the unexamined life isn’t worth living. Learn how to communicate. Whether it’s public speaking or psychology or NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). I met an NLP teacher and studied with her for 3 years earning my Master’s certiification in NLP. It was and is one of the single most important things I’ve ever done.
Wine Appreciation
It’s easy to be a beer afficianado. But wine? That’s a harder and more expensive skill to acquire. However it’s much more valuable to know and impressive to girls when you know what the hell you’re ordering when you take her somewhere special. Plus, one of my top secret ways to meet women is at wine bars and asking them for help in picking a good wine.
Foreign Languages
If you’re a white American, chances are you don’t speak any other language than English. Maybe you have no need to. But don’t ask me why, women find men who speak foreign languages very sexy. They aren’t hard to learn with today’s technology. Pick up Rosetta Stone or some other course, sit down and dedicate yourself to something.
Here you go:
Learn Spanish
Learn French
Learn Italian
Improv Comedy
This is one of the hardest…yet easiest and most accessible skills you can develop. It also does miracles for your personality and brings really shy guys out of their shells. Most cities have improv comedy troupes you can take classes from and learn the basics. I’ve taken a couple classes and never felt better after coming out of a crazy class like that. I think I need to go back.
The list can go on and on and on. I have a small list of skills, hobbies, interests and activities that when you take it upon yourself to learn, simply the act of doing makes you 10 times the Renaissance Man than your average frustrated chump.
Philosophy or comparative religion.
Read Huston Smith’s “The World’s Religions” to learn about the commonalities and differences between all religions so you can speak intelligently on the subject. THEN read “The God Delusion,” an atheist work by Richard Dawkins so you can understand the position of those who aren’t religious. It makes you much more well rounded.
Singing
Can you carry a tune? Take some singing lessons or practice Karaoke. Girls love a guy who can sing and perform. If you do this AND play a musical instrument you’re practically unstoppable.
Painting
Taking brush and paint to canvas can be very cathartic and inspirational. You don’t have to show anyone, but you might really like it and you might be good at it…same with drawing or other art forms.
Write your thoughts, short stories, poetry, non-fiction, fiction or anything that comes to your mind. Exercise this creative portion of your brain for once.
Do you like Cars?
Learn how to fix one. I don’t know how. It’s a lost art that’s getting harder to do with every year’s techology in cars, but you should at least know how to do a few basic things like change a flat or oil and a few other things. The more the better. Maybe then you can take up race car driving.
Carpentry
Learn to build something with your hands and tools.
Learn to play Chess
It’s a valuable strategic game that teaches you many life skills that will translate eslewhere. Take some time, learn the game.
Gambling
Learn to play blackjack if you don’t already know how. It’s a game that can be played for hours anywhere without losing your shirt. Don’t know if you’re going to get women with it, but it’s sure as hell fun and a good skill to have. James Bond would recommend baccarat but that’s just silly.
Networking
Yes, this is a skill. Develop it wisely as it’s one of the single most important skills you can ever have in any profession whatsoever. Many books have been written about. Read “Never Eat Alone” to start with by Keith Ferrazzi. Then get out there and offer value to other people. Always be meeting new people.
Home brewing
Now this just seems like fun. Brew your own beer. Hell, if you have a girl you like, brew a beer inspired by her and name it after here. Then give her a six pack of it. (It could work). Personally I’ve never tried this myself but it looks great. Maybe I’ll buy this book and get started: Brew Your Own Beer
Here’s some more…
Archery, riflery, pistol shooting, fencing, boxing…you name it.
Last, but definitely not least…
Mentoring
The surest way to get good at something and improve yourself as a person is to teach your skills to someone else. Whether it’s mentoring as a big brother in a program or a tutor or teaching someone your hard earned skills. It’s a great way to improve, give back, show compassion and demonstrate what a true Renaissance Man is all about.
The bottom line is that if you build a better life…a more interesting life for yourself and others it will attract rewards you can’t imagine. Women, friends, riches, experiences and everything that life brings.
Live your life like you’re writing a book about it. Some chapters are happy, some are sad, some are exciting and filled with adventure, some just set up the scene for the next chapter. At the end of your life, when you present your book to be “published”…Do you want it to be a boring, drab book that you can’t finish the first few chapters? Or would you rather it to be an exciting book, a page-turner that Dan Brown from the “DaVinci Code” would envy?
Don’t write your book for others though. Write a book that you’d be proud to read.
Build skills, experiences and interests. I live with this philosophy and I owe so much to my curiosity, skills and interests. It’s kind of “magical” what it’s done for my life. PUMA Skills pun fully intended.
Napoleon Dyanmite said it best. “Girls only want guys who have great skills. You know like Nunchuk skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills, girls only want guys have great skills.” Well said Napoleon…well said.
Personally. I can’t offer you every one of these skills. But PUMA SKILLS can show you how to add Magic to your game.
